Event Description
Sixteen years ago, it was a show that revolutionized theatre. April 29, 1996. RENT, a brand new musical, opened its doors on Broadway for the first time. It was like nothing we had seen before. Set in New York's gritty Alphabet City, RENT follows the lives of eight young bohemians, dealing with the hardships of AIDS, poverty, homosexuality, death, hate, homelessness, and love.
Today, RENT, performed in theatres all over the world, has a universal following. It has become a soaring success. And though so many of us have seen it countless times, its creator, Jonathan Larson, would never live to see his work come to life. He died in the early hours of its opening night. In our intimate, newly-staged production of this incredible rock epic, we hope to bring to you some of the life, music, and love that Jonathan Larson wanted so much to share.
